ABOUT NVOS

The Society is open to hobbyists and professionals, novice to expert, all are welcome. We are here to learn, share and have fun!

 

The purpose of the Napa Valley Orchid Society, our Mission and Vision, is:

 

1. To provide support for those having common interests in the appreciation and culture of orchid plants, to broaden their interests and improve their knowledge
2. To acquire and distribute to the members practical and scientific information about the collection, culture and propagation of orchids
3. To arrange the dissemination of information through exhibits, lectures, access to publications, and any other means, for the encouragement of orchid growing
4. To cooperate in and take part in activities of other Societies with purposes similar to those of this Society.

 

MEMBERSHIP:

Annual Membership starts in January and is $XX.00 per year.

 

MEETINGS:

Meetings start at 7:00pm with announcements followed by the feature presentation.

The Society has a "Plant Doctor" and he is available for consultations starting at 6:30pm.

The feature presentation consists of a lecture followed by a Q&A session, demonstrations or slide shows and typically last about 1 hour. A refreshment break follows the presentation to allow for socializing among members.

Members are encouraged to bring orchids in bloom for "Show and Tell". Top three orchids are warded points for the annual Mel Dittmer Award.

The Opportunity Table brings the general meeting to a close. All proceeds go to the general fund of the Society.

During meetings, members will bring in orchids for sale, and the Society offers orchid related supplies.
