( Cyc. Richard Brandon 'SVO II' AM/AOS x Cyc. Maren Gleason 'SVO' )
Modern Cycnoches hybrids are simply outstanding, with impressive flowers and a robust growth habit. Here we are breeding for spots. Maren Gleason (warscewiczii x Martha Clarke) has flowers peppered in burgundy on an almost orange background. Richard Brandon (warscewiczii x Jean E. Monnier) has been proving itself as an important breeder. The awarded 'SVO II' has dark burgundy spots over a green base color. Both parents have the dominant shield-shaped lips from the warscewiczii in their linage. This cross will have spots, spots and more spots in burgundy over a lighter-colored background. You will be impressed with the flower shape, ease of growth and ability to carry 14-16 impressive swan-shaped flowers per stem. You also have the rare chance to evaluate the results from a reciprocal Cycnoches cross, available as SVO 8121. (Description and Photos: Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids) (SVO 8174)

( Cyc. Richard Brandon 'SVO II' AM/AOS x Cyc. Cryminy 'Killer' )
Cyc. Cryminy (Richard Brandon x Cyc. Kevin Clarke) 'Killer' has color never before seen in a Cycnoches. The base color is bronze/yellow, with bold burgundy spots that coalesce into large solid patches, set off by a contrasting white lip. Just remarkable! Richard Brandon (warscewiczii x Jean E. Monnier) produces robust-growing plants that are easy to bloom, with high-quality well-shaped flowers. This outstanding grex is becoming my go-to parent for making modern Cycnoches hybrids. What will this cross deliver? I expect novel flower color combinations in gold and bronze, deeply spotted with burgundy. Plants should produce 15-20 flowers per inflorescence. As a bonus, these will be easy to grow and flower. The reciprocal cross is available as SVO 7691, providing a rare opportunity to see how capsule and pollen parents differ in their contribution to the offspring. ( Cyc. Richard Brandon 'Very Select' x Cyc. Pineapple Popcorn 'Gold Spots' )
Richard Brandon (warscewiczii x Jean E. Monnier) has proven itself to be an important parent, and 'Very Select' has exceptionally wide, flat segments. The flower color is an unusual shade of amber with a few burgundy spots. Pineapple Popcorn (Kevin Clarke x warscewiczii) has almost perfectly flat flowers in yellow with gold spots. The flatter the Cycnoches flowers, the more they resemble the swans they're named for. These parents are exceptional in this regard, and we expect the cross to deliver some of the flattest Cycnoches flowers yet. The flower color of the offspring will span a range that includes amber, bronze, and green. (Description and Photos: Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids) (SVO 8135)
