Catasetum Mary Spencer

Catasetum Mary Spencer is an orchid hybrid originated by R.W.Spencer in 1974. It is a cross of Catasetum socco x Catasetum pileatum. It is considered a "primary hybrid" because it is a cross between two species.

Parentage:

Catasetum socco × Catasetum pileatum

The tag says 'Catasetum pileatum x trulla', so it is possibly either Mary Spencer (pileatum x socco, when socco was regarded synonymous to trulla) or Joao Stivalli (which is Mary Spencer x pileatum). Eventually Catasetum imperiale (=pileatum var. imperiale) is involved. Color of an old dark red wine.
