A GROW BLOG is a journal updated monthly detailing the growth of an orchid supported by commentary and images specific to an actual orchid by the one growing that orchid. The GROW BLOG begins with new growth marking the beginning of the orchid's growth cycle. It would be updated once a month. As the orchid starts to show signs of developing a spike to support developing blooms it will be updated more frequently focusing on the buds as they become maturing blooms. I think of GROW BLOGS as a teachable lesson to share with others interested in caring for an orchid as well as a reference to growing that same orchid year after year looking to improve from the previous year's growth and in particular - the blooms. When the orchid is resting, the grower can also enjoy a rest until the growth cycle begins again.
If you are growing a similar orchid that is presented here, your experiences should be the similar, however, depending upon your location, you could be ahead or behind what I am documenting. Those in southern regions will be a month or two ahead of someone growing that same orchid in northern California. Also keep in mind the climate (temperature and humidity) in a southern region also be different then a grower observes and experiences in northern California.
A primary advantage of GROW BLOGS is a reference tool for comparing this year's growth cycle to the past year(s) growth cycle.
My focus on orchid growing is the Catasetinae (Catasetums, Fredclarkeara, Mormodia and related). I simply cannot do blogs on 23,000 species and over 120,000 hybrids of orchids. Maintaining 20 Catasetinae and related blogs take a great deal of time in preparing so that is what my limit is - my passion.
