Welcome to my 2021 GROW BLOG for the

Cycnoches New Hybrid ( Cyc. Richard Brandon 'SVO II' AM/AOS x Cyc. Maren Gleason 'SVO' )

Modern Cycnoches hybrids are simply outstanding, with impressive flowers and a robust growth habit. Here we are breeding for spots. Maren Gleason (warscewiczii x Martha Clarke) has flowers peppered in burgundy on an almost orange background. Richard Brandon (warscewiczii x Jean E. Monnier) has been proving itself as an important breeder. The awarded 'SVO II' has dark burgundy spots over a green base color. Both parents have the dominant shield-shaped lips from the warscewiczii in their linage. This cross will have spots, spots and more spots in burgundy over a lighter-colored background. You will be impressed with the flower shape, ease of growth and ability to carry 14-16 impressive swan-shaped flowers per stem. You also have the rare chance to evaluate the results from a reciprocal Cycnoches cross, available as SVO 8121.  (Description and Photos: Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids) (SVO 8174)  ( - Fred Clarke, Sunset Valley Orchids )
