Welcome to my 2021 GROW BLOG for the

Catasetum NoID ( Ctsm. Irma Scott 'Long Lived Flower' x Ctsm. Dark Odyssey 'BDL' )

The flowers of Irma Scott (Louise Clarke x denticulatum) have an unusual and highly desirable characteristic for a Catasetum: they are long-lived, lasting up to 3 weeks. Dark Odyssey (Karen Armstrong x Darkness) ‘BDL’ ('Big Dark Lip') has an almost black lip. Here we are looking for improved flower longevity, with dark red/burgundy flowers spotted in darker burgundy, all on a mini-Catasetum plant that flowers 2-3 times a season. Here are the first three to bloom: Picture 1   Picture 2   Picture 3  ( - Fred Clarke, Sunset Valley Orchids )
